Public Is Losing Faith In The GOP Government

Back in January, when the GOP took control of both the Congress and the White House, it looked like the American public was willing to give them a chance to prove they could govern. An equal 47% thought the U.S. was moving in the right direction as the wrong direction. That's the highest number saying the country was moving in the right direction in quite a while.

But it quickly became clear that Rump (and the Republican-controlled Congress) was better at bombastic rhetoric than they were at governing. Since then, the number believing the country was moving in the right direction has shrunk (by about 15 points), and the number believing the country is moving in the wrong direction has grown (by about 14 points).

The chart was made using information in the latest Rasmussen Poll -- done between August 27th and 31st of a random national sample 2,500 likely voters, with a margin of error of 2 points.
