Evangelicals Are Losing Battle On LGBT Rights/Acceptance

Many right-wing evangelicals are still whining about the rights recently won by the LGBT community. They don't think members of that community should have the rights afforded to other Americans, and shouldn't be accepted by the larger society. But that is a battle they are losing -- and losing badly.

The charts above are from a recent Gallup Poll -- done between January 2nd and 7th of a random national sample of 1,024 adults, with a margin of error of 4 points.

It shows that 56% of Americans say they are satisfied with the new acceptance of the LGBT community in the country, while only 38% say they are not satisfied. And it gets even better. Of that 38% who are not satisfied, 23% say they want even more rights and acceptance of gays. That means 79% of the public are either happy with the current acceptance of LGBT citizens, or want even more acceptance for them.
