More Still Dislike The GOP Tax Law Than Like It

The charts above are from the Gallup Poll. The survey was done between February 26th and March 4th of a random national sample of 1,509 adults, with a margin of error of 3 points.

he Republicans are counting on their new tax law to save them in the November election. Will it do that? It isn't so far. While the law has increased in popularity a bit, it is still opposed by more people (48%) than approve it (39%) -- a negative gap of 9 points. Republicans (80%) like it, but Democrats hate it (11%).

Can it gain majority approval by November? I doubt it. Note that in the third chart only 6% say it helped them a lot and 15% say it helped a little. But a whopping 79% say it has not helped at all and they have seen no increase in their paychecks (which the Republicans had promised would happen). As long as that many don't see a benefit from the new tax law, it's not going to gain majority approval.
