Voters Prefer Democrats (And Women) In This Election

These charts reflect the results of a new Suffolk University / USA Today Poll -- done between February 20th and 24th of a random national sample of 1,000 registered voters, with a margin of error of 3 points.

It shows that the Democrats still enjoy a wide gap in support on the generic ballot of 15 points (47% to 32%) -- and that preference for Democrats is evident in both genders, all age groups, and all races.

And while most voters say they don't care whether their candidate is a man or woman, among the quarter of people for whom it does matter the preference is for a female candidate (16% to 7%). This also bodes well for Democrats, since a record number of women are running for Congress this year and most of them are Democrats.
