67% Of Americans Agree With Legal Same-Sex Marriage
The Supreme Court has settled the marriage situation. They have ruled that all Americans have the right to marry the person of their choice, including members of the LGBT community.
But it's still good to see charts like those above. They show that 67% (two out of every three adults) support the right of LGBT citizens to marry the person they love. And that includes 83% of Democrats, 71% of Independents, and 44% of Republicans.
Evangelicals, especially white evangelicals, are still trying to throw this country back to the 1950's -- a time when discrimination against the LGBT community (and minorities and women) was commonplace. But Americans are not having it. American society is growing up and acting like decent adults. They are rejecting discrimination -- and that's a very good thing.
These charts are from a recent Gallup Poll -- done between May 1st and 10th of a national sample of 1,024 adults, with a margin of error of 4 points.
