The American Public Says NO To A Pardon For Manafort

As you probably know by now, Paul Manafort (Trump's ex-campaign manager) has been convicted of 8 serious felonies. And he faces more trials.

Donald Trump has been saying nice things about Manafort, and it is believed that he wants to pardon him. So far, advisors have talked him out of doing that, but many in the White House believe Trump will eventually pardon him anyway (maybe after the midterm elections).

If he does, it would be a serious mistake. Only 11% of registered voters would approve of that pardon, while 60% would not. And that goes for every demographic group in the country. Only two groups have less than a majority saying they would disapprove -- Republicans and Trump voters. And even those two groups have more people disapproving than approving.

The chart above is from the newest Politico / Morning Consult Poll -- done on August 23rd and 24th of a national sample of 1,564 registered voters, with a margin of error of 2 points.
