A Slightly Different Way Of Viewing Religion In The U.S.
The charts above are from the Pew Research Center. It represents a slightly different way of looking at religion in the United States. They divide the public into three religious groups -- the highly religious, the moderately religious, and the non-religious. They then divide each into sub-groups.
The highly religious makes up about 39% of the population, while the moderately religious is 32% and the non-religious is 29%. Only one sub-group (the Sunday Stalwarts) of the highly religious have a majority that attend religious services and read their holy book. They make up only 17% of the population.
The last three charts show the demographics of each of the groups -- by gender, race, income, age, and political persuasion.
The percentages were arrived at by questioning a national sample of 4,729 adults between December 4th and 18th of 2017. The margin of error is 2.3 points.
