Happy Labor Day!

Today is one of my favorite holidays. It's the day we celebrate the people who really built this country, and keep it going every day -- the working men and women. It's also the day we should celebrate the brave union men and women who suffered deprivations, beatings, jail, and even death to get us the decent working conditions and benefits we now enjoy.

I hope all of my readers have a happy holiday today. But remember, the fight is not over yet. There are still battles to be won for working men and women. Unions need to be strengthened, the minimum wage needs to be a livable wage, paid sick leave and annual leave needs to be guaranteed for all workers, Social Security needs to be protected and properly funded so workers can retire without falling into poverty, and an economic system should be initiated that is as fair to workers as to the rich.

We can start this November by voting the Republicans out of power.
