In two recent interviews, Donald Trump has said he couldn't be impeached because he's doing a great job. He must live in a different world, because the American public has a vastly different opinion. They don't think he's doing a good job, and half the population is ready for impeachment proceeding to begin to remove him from office.
By a 24 point margin, the public does NOT approve of how Trump is handling his job. By a 71 point margin, they do NOT think Trump has decreased corruption in government. By a 34 point margin, they support the Mueller investigation. By an 18 point margin, they think he has obstructed justice by trying to interfere with the Mueller investigation. And nearly half (49%) say Congress should start impeachment proceedings.
These charts reflect the results of a new ABC News / Washington Post Poll -- done between August 26th and 29th of a national sample of 1,003 adults, with a 3.5 point margin of error.
