Well, it's all over but the shouting. Liar, sex abuser, and possible drunkard Brett Kavanaugh will become a Supreme Court justice.
That became obvious yesterday when Senators Flake, Collins, and Manchin announced they would vote to confirm the appointment of Kavanaugh.
Flake and Collins are no surprises. Anyone who's been paying attention could have predicted that. While both like (at least recently) to pose as moderates, neither of them is really. Flake has been a reliably right-wing vote in Congress, and Collins has voted with her party 87% of the time.
The biggest disappointment is Senator Joe Manchin, who is running for re-election this year as a Democrat. He will be the only Democrat to vote to confirm Kavanaugh.
Some say he will vote that way because he's running in a red state (West Virginia). If so, then he's a fool. Voting for Kavanaugh won't win him any Republican votes, but it could cost him some Democratic or Independent votes. I wouldn't blame Democratic or Independent women from just not voting in that one race on the ballot.
That may shock some of my Democratic friends, but I have to ask -- is he really a Democrat? He has voted with Donald Trump about 71% of the time -- the only Democrat with such an abysmal voting record. And frankly, if he is re-elected, I expect him to abandon the Democratic Party and join the Republican Party before his six year term is finished.
Am I wrong? What do you think?
