The 26 Richest People In The United States


Forbes Magazine has released its annual list of the 400 richest people in this country. You can go here to see the whole list, but the chart above shows the richest 26 people.

Personally, I think this list of 400 shows just how broken our society and economy really are. While these people wallow in outrageous wealth, about 14% of Americans live in poverty and 50% live within 150% of the poverty line. In other words, they are just a paycheck or two away from poverty themselves.

This needs to be fixed. Unfortunately, that won't happen as long as the Republicans are in power. Their economic policies are geared solely toward making rich people richer (and its doing that very well).

We need to put Democrats back in control of Congress in November, and then add control of the White House (and Congress) in 2020. Then we need to hold their feet to the fire until they create an economic policy that is fair to all Americans.
