If Trump was counting on a national-televised speech before the entire government (and the nation) to tell more lies to get his wall, it looks like he will be very disappointed. He can't go to the House of Representatives to speak (even for a State of the Union speech) without an invitation from the House (which would be done by a vote of House members). That invitation has not been offered yet, and it looks like it won't be extended.
The letter above is from Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Donald Trump. In it, she suggests the speech be postponed until the government is opened, or that Trump deliver his speech in writing (as all presidents prior to Woodrow Wilson did). In other words, Trump won't get his moment in the spotlight as long as he keeps the government shut down!
Trump needs to realize that he is just outclassed by Pelosi. In a battle of wits with her, Trump is defenseless.
