Public Is Still Opposed To A Border Wall (And The Shutdown)
The charts above are from a recent survey done by the Pew Research Center. It was done between January 9th and 14th of a national sample of 1,505 adults, and has a 3 point margin of error.
It shows the American public still opposes building (or expanding) a wall between the United States and Mexico (with about 40% favoring the wall and 58% opposing it). That a significant gap of 18 points.
About 58% of the public also thinks the government shutdown is a serious problem for the country. They don't like how anyone in the government is dealing with the problem. About 61% disapproves (53% strongly) of how Trump is handling it, while 60% (40% strongly) disapproves of Republicans and 53% (33% strongly) disapproves of Democrats.
If Trump thinks he's winning this shutdown fight, he's wrong. The public knows the shutdown is his fault, and the longer it lasts (hurting the economy) the more people will be angry with him.
