51% Of Voters Think Russia Has Compromising Info On Trump

The chart above reflects the results of the newest Politico / Morning Consult Poll -- done between March 8th and 10th of a national sample of 1,994 registered voters, with a 2 point margin of error.

Why is Donald Trump, the leader of the Republican Party, so hard on U.S. allies and so easy on Vladimir Putin and Russia? He has taken the word of Putin over our own intelligence agencies on both Russian interference in the 2016 election and North Korea's nuclear and missile capabilities -- and has both attempted to remove and refused to enforce sanctions against Russia imposed by the U.S. Congress.

Some have claimed (including me) that the Russians have some kind of compromising information on Trump -- information that Trump is afraid they might release. That's a disturbing thought, because it means Trump is willing to put the country in danger to protect his own reputation.

It turns out that a significant portion of registered voters that believe the Russians do have compromising information on Trump. About 51% believe that is likely, while only 33% say it is unlikely. And that is the conclusion of both genders, all age groups, all race/ethnicities, and education levels. It is also the opinion of both Democrats and Independents.

Only one groups has more people believing it is unlikely -- Republicans. About 23% of Republicans believe it is likely, while about 63% say it is unlikely. That is expected. Republicans can't admit that without making themselves look stupid for supporting him.
