This chart reflects the results of the new Economist / YouGov Poll -- done between May 5th and 7th of a national sample of 1,500 adults (including 1,168 registered voters). The margin of error for adults is 2.7 points, and for registered voters is 2.9 points.
The 2020 election is not going to be about issue, no matter how much some people want it to be that way. It will be nothing more than a referendum on the Trump administration. Voters will either vote to give Trump another four years, or to kick him out of the White House.
This same poll had 37% saying it is likely that Trump will be re-elected and 45% saying he would not be re-elected. It's a real opportunity for Democrats, but they must nominate a candidate that the public will accept. That candidate is NOT Bernie Sanders.
The poll had only 25% saying it is likely Bernie Sanders could be elected in November of 2020, while a majority of 53% said it was unlikely (a 28 point gap). The numbers were even worse for Bernie among registered voters -- with 26% saying it is likely and 58% saying it is unlikely (a 32 point gap).
Some people seem to believe that any Democrat (or Independent) could beat Trump. This poll shows that is simply not true.
