Most People Think Trump Lied About Russia Investigation
These charts reflect the results of the latest NBC News / Wall Street Journal Poll -- done between April 28th and May 1st of a national sample of 900 adults, with a margin of error of 3.27 points.
It shows that a significant majority of Americans know that Donald Trump has been lying about the Mueller investigation into Russian influence in the 2016 election -- by a 23 point margin. And a plurality say that the Mueller Report did not clear Trump of wrongdoing -- by a 13 point margin over those who say it did.
But the nation is not ready for impeachment. Only 17% said impeachment hearings should begin now, and another 32% said investigations should continue to see if impeachment should happen (for a total of 49%). About 48% said Trump should be allowed to finish his term.
It looks like the public wants the verdict on Trump decided in the 2020 election.
