Most People See White Supremacy As A Threat To The U.S.

This chart reflects the results of a new Politico / Morning Consult Poll -- done between August 5th and 7th of a national sample of 1,960 registered voters. It has a margin of error of 2 points.

Donald Trump doesn't think white supremacists pose a significant threat to this country. He wants people to believe the racist shooters are just a few individuals with mental problems -- probably because his sympathies lie with them (as his actions and hate speech have demonstrated).

But that's not how most people see the problem. About 70% of registered voters say white supremacy is a critical or important threat to the United States -- with nearly half (47%) saying it's a critical threat and 23% saying it's an important threat. Only 19% of the public agrees with Trump that it's not an important threat.
