Most Americans Still Want Stricter Laws On Gun Sales

These charts are from the Gallup Poll. It was done between October 1st and 13th of a national sample of 1,526 adults, and has a 3 point margin of error.

Politicians running for president seem to be ignoring the issue of guns -- even though we average a mass shooting every day and are on target to have 40,000 gun deaths this year. Only one presidential politician made this an issue -- Beto O'Rourke, and he has dropped out of the race.

About 64% of Americans support stricter laws on gun sales -- including 88% of Democrats, 64% of Independents, and 36% of Republicans. And when you ask about better background checks, the numbers go much higher (and even includes a majority of Republicans).

This is an issue that needs to be addressed, and there's enough support for it that it would not hurt a candidate in most of the country.
