Texas started reopening its economy on May 1st, and made social distancing and wearing masks by individuals optional. The charts above show the number of new Coronavirus cases each day since reopening (top chart), and the number of Coronavirus deaths each day (bottom chart).
The numbers (from The COVID Tracking Project) are for the first two weeks of May. Since the virus takes a couple of weeks to incubate in an individual, the next two to four weeks will show whether the governor's decision to reopen was a mistake or not. But the numbers for the first two weeks are not encouraging.
