Trump Has Lost The Women's Vote - Is He Losing Seniors?

The charts above reflect the results of the newest CNN / SSRS Poll -- done between May 7th and 10th of a national sample of 1,112 adults (including 1,001 registered voters). The margin of error for adults is 3.7 points, and for registered voters is 4 points.

It shows that the adults (by 6 points) and registered voters (by 5 points) disapprove of the job Donald Trump is doing. And when it come to his handling of the Coronavirus pandemic, the numbers are even worse -- adults (by 13 points) and registered voters (by 10 points). Those are not good numbers.

Trump is doing especially bad among women voters -- with a 17 point deficit on job approval and a 25 point deficit on how he's handling the Coronavirus.

Trump lost the women's vote in 2016 by a 15 point deficit, and it looks like that's going to happen again. That's not good because women tend to outvote men.

But there is another trend in recent polls that should worry Trump. In 2016, he won the senior vote (those 65 and over) by 9 points. That was enough to allow him to squeak by with an electoral college win. But recent polls have shown he could now be losing the vote of seniors (who vote in larger percentages than any other age group).

This poll shows seniors disapprove of the job Trump is doing by a whopping 15 points, and they disapprove of his handling of Coronavirus by 14 points. Those are large margins, and they show Trump could be losing support among senior voters.

It's bad enough for Trump that he trails so badly among women, but if he loses both women AND seniors he will lose his bid for re-election.
