U.S. Public Says Government Should Do More On Climate
The charts above are from the Pew Research Center. They questioned a national sample of 10,957 adults between April 29th and May 5th. The margin of error for their survey is 1.4 points.
Currently, this nation (and the world) is busy fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. That's understandable, since we cannot end this recession until we control the virus, and we cannot save lives until the virus is controlled. The virus poses an immediate danger.
But we must not forget that the pandemic is not the only crisis facing this country (and the world). Global climate change (global warming) has not stopped. It doesn't care about the virus. And while it is happening slower, we may be reaching the tipping point (where nothing we do can avoid disaster). In the end, global climate change may actually be more dangerous to the world than the Coronavirus.
Unfortunately, our current federal government is doing NOTHING to stop, or even mitigate, global climate change. In fact, they are doing just the opposite. They are making it worse -- from withdrawing from the Paris Accords to removing rules that helped to clean-up emissions.
The public knows this. About 65% of the public says the government is not doing enough to save the climate and protect the environment. The six charts above show that the public disagrees with the current administration. They want government action.
