The chart above, from CNN.com, shows the number of COVID-19 cases in the U.S. -- from the first to the most recent, as reported by Johns Hopkins. It shows the country now has more than 10 million cases reported, and the number of cases continues to rise -- setting daily records.
Thank goodness Joe Biden will soon take office and science will take its place in fighting the virus. Also good is that a new vaccine has been reported to be 90% effective (after a 28 day period). Maybe it will be ready for the general population by early Spring.
Meanwhile, Trump continues to ignore the virus, and still wants Americans to believe we have "turned the corner". It is a LIE. Here's the truth from The Washington Post:
The United States surpassed 10 million confirmed cases of the coronavirus Monday, a milestone that has deepened fears among health experts that the nation is heading into winter with an unmitigated spread that could mean the most dangerous phase of the pandemic is here.
Nine months into the pandemic, the country still lacks a cohesive national strategy that has in part enabled cases to surge by 1 million over the past 10 days. By contrast, it took more than three months for the country to go from no cases to 1 million in late April.
The number of new cases was up in every state as well as D.C., Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories as of Saturday, with at least 15 states breaking records for single-day new case counts.
The weekly average for new cases in a single day has topped 104,000, according to data tracked by The Washington Post.
At the same time that new infections are growing in every part of the country, several states — particularly less populous ones with larger rural populations — are seeing hospital bed capacity dwindling under the influx of new patients.
