The chart above reflects the results of a new ABC News / Washington Post Poll -- done between January 10th and 13th of a national sample of 1,002 adults, with a 3.5 point margin of error.
Trump has said he could legally pardon himself, and has recently discussed doing that with his remaining aides. He is wrong. If a president can pardon himself, then he is above the law -- and in a democracy, no one should be above the law. It should apply to all equally.
If he tries to pardon himself, he won't be winning any new friends. About 68% of the public opposes a self-pardon.
