The chart above is from the new Economist / YouGov Poll -- done between June 26th and 29th of a national sample of 1,500 adults (including 1,290 registered voters), with a 3.1 point margin of error for both groups.
Congress is currently talking about and considering two infrastructure plans -- a bipartisan plan and a more ambitious Democratic plan. Both would require some way to pay for them. Democrats want corporations and those making over $400,000 a year to pay a little more in taxes to do that. Republicans adamantly oppose raising taxes on the rich or on corporations.
Republicans would like to raise gas taxes and create a user fee for electric cars. They also want to repurpose money set aside for COVID-19 relief.
According to this poll, most adults and registered voters agree with the Democrats far more than they agree with the Republicans. Clear majorities would support raising taxes on the rich and corporations, while only tiny minorities support the Republican preferences.
