Trump Plans To Run Campaign Ads Promoting Himself

The prospects for Republican candidates are getting dimmer with each passing day, and the midterms elections are only a couple of months away. Even Trump is starting to realize that the Democrats are sure to win control of the House of Representatives, and there is a good and growing chance they will even take the Senate.

Trump has $400 million in his super-PAC, and he recently met with his political advisors to determine the best way to spend that money. One might think he would funnel most of that money into the campaigns of Republican candidates that aren't running in bright red districts. But that is not what he decided to do.

Instead, he going to run ads about himself - bragging about his accomplishments in his second term. Does he really think this is the best way to help Republican candidates? They are already too closely tied to Trump at a time when Trump's job approval is worse than any other presidents since modern polling began, and these ads will just remind the voting public of that.

At a time when GOP candidates in battleground districts need to divorce themselves from Trump - at least on his biggest failures (like the inflation he has increased with tariffs and a silly and unnecessary war) - this will just remind voters that those GOP candidates did not oppose any of Trump worst economic failures.

Personally, I doubt this is really an effort to help Republican candidate at all. He doesn't really care about anyone that's not super-rich, white, and preferably male (and then only if they funnel money into his pet projects or his bank account). More likely, this is an effort to try and increase his own awful poll numbers.

That won't work either though. Every time voters fill their vehicle with gas, buy groceries, get their electric bill, or try to get medical care, they will be reminded of just how bad Trump has screwed up the economy.
