Cowboys Beat Titans - Now 2-1

A few days ago, there was doubt as to whether the two best receivers for the Cowboys would even get to play in the Tennessee game. Terrell Owens had his broken finger and his overdose, and Terry Glenn had cut his hand bad enough to require stitches. But I shouldn't have worried. Both played and both played well. T.O. led the Cowboy receivers in yardage, and Glenn caught two touchdown passes.

In fact, the whole team had a good day. Bledsoe was good, and all three backs contributed. Barber, Jones, and Thompson all ran for touchdowns. Jones had 123 total rushing yards. Also, looks like the offensive line may be coming together.

The defense had a shaky start, but finished strong. Rookie safety Pat Watkins looked real good, knocking down a couple of passes and running back a fumble for big yardage. I think Watkins is going to be a special player when he gets a little more experience.

The only thing I saw today that worries me is in the kicking game. Our highly paid field-goal specialist missed a 26 yard chip shot. Fortunately, Vanderjagt's skills weren't needed to win today. The final score today was 45-14. But can we trust him down the line when we do need a field goal to win a game?

I agree with Tennessee's decision the start Vince Young today. They were getting nothing out of their other quarterback. Young actually looked pretty good for a rookie starting his first game. He just needs a little experience. If you'll remember, even the great Troy Aikman was 1-15 in his rookie year.

Albert Haynesworth was the only black mark in Sunday's game. He intentionally kicked Cowboys' center Gurode in the head [he had to get 30 stitches], then threw his helmet at the feet of an official, and got in the face of his own head coach. He was ejected from the game, but the NFL needs to fine and suspend him. This kind of ridiculous behavior should not be tolerated.

Next week, the Cowboys travel to Philadelphia to play the Eagles. That should be a stiffer test than the Titans were. The game is scheduled to start at 3:15pm next Sunday.
