Hillary Still Popular In Spite Of Fake E-mail "Scandal"

We know that Hillary Clinton broke no laws by keeping a private e-mail account while Secretary of State, has made available all of those e-mails pertaining to government business, and has asked the State Department to make available all of the more than 55,000 e-mails that don't contain state secrets. In fact, she did nothing that others (Colin Powell, Jeb Bush, etc.) didn't do without being accused of trying to hide some scandal.

That's not good enough for Republicans, or for the corporate media (that considers ratings to be more important than the truth). Both refuse to let the matter drop, and evidently hope that if they scream long enough and loud enough then the public will think Clinton did something wrong.

CNN/ORC Poll recently did a survey on the matter. I think they were hoping to show that Hillary Clinton had been hurt by the "scandal", and give themselves a boost for continuing to report on the story. But it didn't work out that way. The poll actually showed that the public really doesn't the fake scandal as a reason to abandon support for Clinton. Some 57% of the general public said they would be proud to have Hillary Clinton as their president.

I don't expect the Republicans or the corporate media to drop the story. They have too much invested in their silly accusations, and stopping now would make them look like the fools they really are. But the American public sees this story for what it really is -- just a lame attempt to smear Hillary Clinton in advance of the 2016 election.

The CNN/ORC Poll was done between March 13th and 15th of a random national sample of 1,009 adults, and has a margin of error of 3 points.

  1. To say that I'm surprised is an understatement. Now, the next question is, can we get that 58% to *vote*...
