The Shrinking Middle Class
This chart (from Mother Jones) is very troubling, because it is just more evidence of the disappearing middle class in the United States. Our democracy has been strong because of a large and vibrant middle class, but the economic policies of our government in the last few decades (the trickle-down policies of the Republicans) has seriously damaged the middle class. Back in 1970, about 65% of Americans lived in middle class neighborhoods. That has now fallen to about 42%. How much longer are we going to put up with an economic policy that rewards the rich and punishes everyone else? When are the people going to demand a change?
