The Public's View On The Two Major Political Parties

These two charts show what the American public thinks of the two major political parties in the United States. The top chart shows the positive views of the two parties from December of 2013 to the present. The bottom chart shows the negative feelings toward those two parties over that same time period.

The public is still pretty angry with both parties, because they are disappointed at their failure to work together and compromise for the good of the country. But they also realize that most of that failure is due to obstruction from the Republicans. Note that the positive view of the Democratic Party has been higher throughout that period than the positive view of the Republican Party. And the negative view of Democrats has been lower than the negative view of Republicans.

These two charts were made from information contained in a new NBC News / Wall Street Journal Poll done January 14th and 17th of a random national sample of 800 adults, with a margin of error of 3.46 points.
