The American public has been very angry with the United States Congress ever since the Republicans took control of the House of Representatives in 2010. Some thought that the image of Congress would approve a bit after the GOP also took control of the Senate -- at least among Republicans. But that didn't happen.
The charts above show the public is disgusted with Congress (most probably because of their refusal to compromise for the good of the country). And the Republicans are just as disgusted as everyone else. Both polls show only 11% the general public approves of the job Congress is doing. The approval among Republicans is between 8% and 14% (certainly nothing to be proud of).
I doubt this improves before the next election (even though it's a year away, since these extraordinarily low numbers has persisted for several years now. If I was an incumbent congress-person, I would be very worried -- and since the Republicans have a significant majority, they should probably be the most worried.
The Gallup Poll was done between November 4th and 8th of a random national sample of 1,021 adults, and has a margin of error of 4 points.
The YouGov Poll was done between November 5th and 9th of a random national sample of 1,000 adults, and has a margin of error of 4 points.
