Most Believe The Government Is Responsible For Healthcare

The Republicans are still trying to destroy what little healthcare is provided by the federal government. They don't think healthcare is a right of citizens -- but just a product to be sold to those who can afford it. They don't even think children deserve healthcare unless their parents are rich enough to afford it, and have allowed the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) to expire. And they don't like Medicare (or Medicaid), and would drastically cut both programs -- leaving seniors and the poor without proper coverage.

The Republican is approach is a hard-hearted one -- and it is one supported only by the ignorant members of their own party. The charts above show that. The general public, Independents, and Democrats all have majorities saying it is the government's responsibility to insure all Americans have adequate healthcare.

The top chart is from a survey done by the Public Religion Research Institute -- done between October 18th and 30th of a random national sample of 2,019 adults, with a 2.6 point margin of error.

The bottom chart is from a new Gallup Poll -- done between November 2nd and 8th of a random national sample of 1,028 adults, with a margin of error of 4 points.
