Trump Is Losing Support Among The Religious
The chart above reflects the results of polling done by the Public Religion Research Institute. One poll was done in March and the other in May. Each was done of a national sample of about 1,003 adults, and has a margin of error of about 3.5 points.
This chart shows a trend that should worry Donald Trump. His favorability is falling among white religious people (his strongest supporters in the last election. His among white mainline protestants fell by 11 points from March to May. It fell by 23 points among white catholics. And it even dropped among his strongest supporters -- white evangelicals, by 15 points.
There was not much change among nonwhite protestants or the religiously unaffiliated, but his favorability among both of those groups was already very low.
