The Labor Department released the unemployment figures for June on Thursday (a day early because of the holiday). It showed the economy produced about 147,000 jobs in June. That is not a lot, but because of a slight drop in the civilian workforce (of 130,000), it was enough to cause a slight drop in the unemployment rate. That rate was 4.1% for June.
