The Electoral Map Is Complete And Biden Wins 306 To 232

The electoral college map is complete. The state of North Carolina goes into the red column, while Arizona and Georgia go blue. That gives Joe Biden 306 electoral votes to 232 for Donald Trump -- a 74 vote margin for Biden.

With 97% of the nation's vote in, the popular vote has Biden with 77,971,611 (50.8%) and Trump with 72,653,914 (47.4%) -- over a 5.3 million vote margin for Biden.

In January 20th, Joe Biden will become the 46th president of the United States.

Maps Can Hide Or Reveal The Truth

The maps above are from The New York Times. Both show the results of the 2018 congressional elections. But they are also a prime example of how a map can hide as much truth as it reveals.

The top map has an enormous amount of red on it. It gives the impression that most Americans are conservative (and that somehow the Democrats must have connived to win in 2018).

That is simply not true. The second map breaks the country down into congressional districts (roughly equal). Note there is much more blue on this map, because Americans voted to give Democrats a significant majority of those individual congressional districts.

The truth is that most Americans are not conservatives. And in 2018, they showed a definite preference for Democrats.

Two New Electoral Maps Show Clinton Winning

These are the latest electoral college maps for the 2016 presidential race. The top map is from fivethirtyeight.com, and the bottom is from ABC News. Both show Clinton getting more than the 270 electoral votes she needs to be elected. It is interesting that ABC thinks Clinton could lose Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Iowa, and Nevada, and she would still win.

Three New Electoral College Maps Heavily Favor Clinton

The top map, from fivethirtyeight.com, has Clinton with 365.5 electoral votes -- a lead of 196.6 votes over Trump.

The middle map, from the Princeton Election Consortium, has Clinton with 341 electoral votes -- a lead of 150 votes over Trump.

The bottom map, from the University of Virginia Center for Politics, has Clinton with 348 electoral votes -- a lead of 158 votes over Trump.

A candidate needs 270 electoral votes to win the presidency.
