Clinton's Iowa Support Is Double That of Sanders
Has the surge for Bernie Sanders in Iowa been somewhat tempered? That seems to be what a new survey of Democrats in that state shows. Hillary Clinton still draws the support of a majority (52%) in that state. That's slightly over twice the support the survey shows for Sanders (25%) -- a 27 point gap between the two candidates.
The chart below shows the support for each of the two among different groups in Iowa. Sanders does the best among liberals, who give him 39% support -- but that's still 10 points behind Clinton. And all of the other groups prefer Clinton by even larger margins. Bernie has drawn large crowds in Iowa, but that has not translated into majority support among Democrats there -- at least not yet.
These charts were made from a new Public Policy Polling survey that was done between August 7th and 9th of a random sample of 567 likely caucus attendees, and has a margin of error of 4.1 points.

I would assume that other poll was just an outlier, rather than Sanders' support going suddenly up and then suddenly down. This poll looks about right because it is pretty much what we are seeing everywhere.
ReplyDeleteWould you mind doing a bar graph of this one?
ReplyDelete"Sanders has eclipsed Clinton by a 44 to 37 percent margin, according to a new Franklin Pierce University/Boston Herald poll that was first reported by the Boston newspaper Tuesday evening.
"The previous FPU/Herald poll taken in March had Sanders trailing Clinton 44 to 8."
