The Gallup Poll has been surveying Americans since 1946 on the man they admire the most, and in 1948 they expanded the survey to include the most admired woman. They don't offer the poll respondents any choices, but simply ask the open-ended question of which man and woman do you admire the most. This year's poll was taken between December 19th and 22nd of 1,038 Americans randomly chosen from across the nation. Here are the results:
The most admired woman in the world for Americans is Hillary Clinton. This marks the 11th year in a row that she has won the title in Gallup's poll. She has also been picked as the most admired woman more than any other person since Gallup began polling -- being named as most admired 17 times.
The easy winner among men was President Barack Obama. It marks the fifth year in a row that he has been named the most admired man in the world. The man who was named most admired man the most times was Dwight D. Eisenhower -- who won the poll 12 times.
