Not to wax too philosophical, but I've been thinking about this time of year and why it has such universal appeal. Having reached the shortest day of the year, there's a hope that we've reached rock bottom and a promise that there's nowhere to go but up.
This is also a time of reflection about the events of the outgoing calendar year and anticipation about what the upcoming year holds in store. It's no wonder why the early Christians chose this time of year to celebrate the birth of Jesus, rather than the historical birthday (which has since been lost in antiquity).
I better close for now. Here's wishing you and all your readers the very best for this special time of the year.

Happy holidays and Festivus for the rest of us.
