"Virginity-Faking" Device Being Sold

"A leading Egyptian scholar has demanded that people caught importing a female virginity-faking device into the country should face the death penalty."

According to the BBC, a virginity-faking device is be manufactured in China. The cheap device (selling for about $15) releases a liquid that looks like blood, allowing a woman to claim she was a virgin. The device is selling quite well in the Arab world, where some conservative religious communities believe a woman has no value except for her virginity.

Some women consider the device to be a cheap alternative to hymen-repair surgery, which can be quite expensive. Personally, I hope the inventor of this silly device gets filthy rich off of it. Any "man" with the huge inferiority complex and ridiculous religious beliefs to devalue a marvelous woman simply because she is not a virgin, deserves to be hoodwinked.

The pathetic "men" who hide behind their religion to force women into second-class citizenship, or even worse, virtual slavery, should not be tolerated by decent people. Although this kind of attitude is prevalent in the Arab world, it actually exists all over the world (even in the so-called "civilized" Western world).

You might have noticed that I put the word men in quotes above. That's because I hesitate to even called these pathetic creatures men. A real man has no interest in owning a woman or forcing her into a submissive or second-class status. A real man enjoys helping a woman to fulfill her full potential and assume her equal status in the family and the world.

The silly device discussed above would have no value with a real man.

  1. Ted-

Please don't lump all Muslims in with those few idiots.

The majority of Muslims don't care about virginity. The family unit is very important, and monogamy is VERY important. That said, this virginity may be a cultural thing specific to Egypt.

Second, the majority of women in Islam are not oppressed, are not slaves. A full 80% of Muslim women in the U.S. get a college education. Muslim countries have had female leaders and politicians for many years, unlike the western world...
Muslim women have had most of the rights of modern women for 1400 years. Compare that to 90 years ago in America, when women were still a man's property.

Lastly... If you go to Cairo, you're not going to see women like in that picture. You'll see women in designer clothes and trendy headscarves, or no hijab (Islamic allowed clothing) at all. This is a problem you end up having when your only source of info is the biased media.

Might I suggest you talk with one of the MANY practicing Muslim women who write on blogspot? Ask them if they are oppressed.

I'll be checking back here periodically if you have any response.

  2. I wasn't trying to single out muslims. I dislike all religions equally - especially the conservative fundamentalists.

  3. By the way, Egypt is the country where the mullahs were wanting the death penalty to be imposed for sale of this device.

  4. That would suck, but it's not going to happen. You do know that Egypt is not run by religious leaders, right? It's secular, run by a dictator. Charming little prick named Hosni Mubarak.

Egypt is a world leader in torture, police state tactics, and suppression of free speech. They have have MUCH bigger problems than fake virginity.

Incidentally, Egypt is also one of America's most solid allies. Why is it that nobody in the U.S. government says a peep about these things?

I'm religious, but not stupid about it. I love atheists. Why?
At the very least that are questioning what their parents and society taught. That is the first step towards social progress.

  5. Egypt is also the country where right-wing religious jerks assassinated one of their greatest leaders - Anwar Sadat.

By the way, I like your blog. Keep up the good work!

  6. If this product is to be questioned, it might be from the medical side and see to what extent is healthy and not from the side of morals. http://inspirationwriting.blogspot.com/2009/10/virginity-for-15.html
