Democrats Still Doing Very Well In Generic Polls

The chart above shows that Democrats do very well when poll respondents are asked who they would vote for in a generic match-up for Congress. Of course, the actual results next November will depend on how well each party is able to turn out their voters (and how many Independents bother to vote). But if the Democrats can turn out a large vote, the possibility exists that they could flip control of Congress -- something that was unthinkable just a couple of years ago.

The Fox News Poll has Democrats with a 15 point lead, CNN Poll has them with a 16 point lead, Morning Consult Poll has them with a 6 point lead, and YouGov Poll has them with a 7 point lead.

The Fox News Poll was done between October 22nd and 24th of a random national sample of 1,005 registered voters, with a 3 point margin of error.

The CNN / SSRS Poll was done between October 12th and 15th of a random national sample of 1,010 respondents, with a 3.5 point margin of error.

The Morning Consult Poll was done between October 19th and 23rd of a random national sample of 1,988 registered voters, with a 2 point margin of error.

The Economist / YouGov Poll was done between October 22nd and 24th of a random national sample of 1,500 adults (including 1,312 registered voters), with a 3.1 point margin of error.

The chart below shows Donald Trump's job approval in those same polls. He's still not doing very well, and unless he changes that, he won't help the Republicans stay in power.
