Trump's Job Approval/Disapproval In Each Of The States

The charts above use information from a recently released Gallup Poll. They show the average job approval for Donald Trump in 2017 in each of the states (and the District of Columbia). Gallup questioned 171,469 adults between January 20th and December 30th of 2017. The margin of error for the entire sample is 1 point, and for each state is about 4 points.

For the whole nation, Trump had an average job approval in 2017 of 38% and disapproval of 56%. There were 12 states that showed significant job approval for Trump, while 32 states showed significant disapproval. The other states had approval/disapproval within the margins of error.

Trump Starts 2018 As The Most Unpopular Modern President

Donald Trump starts the new year with an average approval of 37.9% -- more than double-digits below that of any other president since World War II (after 346 days in office). It has been that way all year, and it is unlikely to change.

These numbers were found at fivethirtyeight.com.

Trump Has Record Low Job Approval In Average Of Polls

These charts are from RealClearPolitics. They top one shows the average of all recent polls on Donald Trump's job approval. Note that the polls' average currently has his approval at 37.2% and disapproval at 58.0% -- a negative gap of 20.8 points.

The second chart shows Trump's job approval since he took office. Note that the current approval of 37.2% represents a record low -- and the current disapproval of 58.0% represents a record high. Trump likes to think he is a popular president, but the truth is that his approval is getting worse (not better), and he remains the most unpopular president in the modern era.

This remains a presidential administration in deep trouble.

Polls Average Shows Strong Disapproval Of Trump

The chart above is from the website fivethirtyeight.com. It shows the job approval average of all polls for Donald Trump. Note that his job approval is not improving. It currently rests at 37.3% approval and 57.1% disapproval -- a negative gap of 19.8 points. Unless this dramatically improves, he will have no coattails for the GOP to cling to in 2018 (and those who support him will probably be hurt in the election).

Trump Has Record Low Job Approval In Average Of Polls

These charts are from RealClearPolitics. The top chart shows the latest polls on Donald Trump's job approval. The bottom chart shows the historical average of all polls about Trump's job approval.

Note that the current average of the latest polls is 37.8% approving of the job Trump is doing, and 56.9% disapproving -- a negative polls' average gap of 19.1 points. As the bottom chart shows, that's the record lowest Trump has registered since being sworn in -- and the largest negative gap since then.

Not only is Trump not fixing his job approval numbers, but they are steadily getting worse. And as the chart below shows (from the latest IBD/TIPP Poll), he is now starting to lose some support from groups that supported him in the 2016 election.

Donald Trump's Average Job Approval Falls To 39.2%

As Trump keeps shooting himself in the foot with his tweets and lies, his job approval rating continues to fall. Last week the average job approval rating of recent polls was 39.4% as reported by RealClearPolitics. That average has now fallen to 39.2% -- with only one poll (the GOP-friendly Rasmussen Poll) giving Trump more than 40% approval.

His disapproval average now stands at 55.1% -- a negative gap of 15.9 points. As the bottom chart shows, Trump's negative gap in approval has grown steadily since he assumed office.

Latest Polls And Polls' Average Of The Presidential Race

These charts are from RealClearPolitics. The top chart shows the latest 9 polls in the presidential race, and the average of those polls. The average is 45% for Clinton and 42.9% for Trump -- a 2.1 point edge for Hillary Clinton. I respect RCP, but I feel the distance between the two is just a bit larger. I guess we'll find out in a couple of days.

The top chart reflects the latest polls taken in the presidential race on a national basis, and the RealClearPolitics average of all those polls. That average, which usually is closer to the actual electoral result, is now showing a 6.2 point lead for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump (45.3 to 39.1). The bottom chart shows how this average has been over the length of this presidential campaign. Note that it shows the gap is growing wider between Clinton and Trump.

Poll Averages For December In Party Presidential Races

As regular readers will know, I like to bring you the RealClear Politics averages in the Democratic and Republican presidential races near the end of each month. I do this because the RCP average proved to be more accurate in the 2012 election than the result of almost every individual poll.

The polls averaged for December were -- USA Today/Suffolk University Poll, CBS News/NY Times Poll, NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll, Monmouth University Poll, ABC News/Washington Post Poll, Public Policy Polling survey, Fox News Poll, Quinnipiac University Poll, Rasmussen Poll, and CNN/ORC Poll.

Clinton Still Has Big Lead - GOP Race Is Growing Closer

The chart above shows the results of the last four polls taken in the race for the Democratic nomination. Note especially the RealClearPolitics average in the right hand column. The RCP average in the last presidential election proved to be more accurate than almost all of the polls. This average shows Clinton with a 22.3 point lead, and majority support (54.8%).

The chart below shows the RCP average (of the same polls) for the race for the Republican nomination. This race seems to be growing closer. Trump and Carson are virtually tied, but seem unable to increase the support they have -- while Rubio and Cruz are increasing their percentage of support.

Over 62% Of Workers Earn Less Than The Average Wage And About 14% Earn A Poverty Wage For Full-Time Work

The average income in the United States in 2013 was $42,380 ($20.38 an hour) in 2013. That's nearly $6,000 less than it was in 2010, when it was $48,016 ($23.09 an hour). That means the average American worker has lost a little more than 11% in buying power since 2010.

That would be bad enough, but the truth is that most workers don't make the average wage in this country. Note in the above chart that 62% of Americans work for less than $20 an hour (and $20 an hour doesn't quite equal the average wage, coming only to about $41,600 a year). And nearly 14% of American workers make less than $10 an hour (or less than $20,600 a year) -- and these wages are before any payroll taxes are taken out. That's less than half of the average wage in the U.S.

This shows the need for the minimum wage (currently at $7.25 an hour, or about $15,080 a year) to be raised as soon as possible. Many of those in Congress want to block a raise in the minimum wage (or even eliminate the minimum wage altogether) -- but they don't have to try to support a family on $15,080 a year before taxes. The majority of them at millionaires (and don't even need the more than $170,000 a year they earn from being in Congress).

Most Americans support raising the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour -- certainly no exorbitant wage, since it would only amount to about half of the average wage in this country. Most Americans know that it's impossible to support a family (or even an individual) on the current minimum wage, and realize that even a wage of $10.10 an hour would be tough to support a family on (but doable for a frugal household).

Personally, I think it's obscene for the millionaires in Congress to deny hard-working Americans a wage that's just half of the country's average wage, and immoral for them to force millions of full-time workers to work for a wage that keeps them in poverty (the current minimum wage). How can they possibly justify that?
