Texas Conservatives With Global Clout

Most of the big Texas conservatives are now out of power and have dubious reputations here in the United States, but evidently others still see them as having political clout. The United Kingdom's Telegraph newspaper has composed a list of the top 100 conservatives and liberals with "global clout". The conservative list contains six Texans and one pseudo-Texan.

The pseudo-Texan is Dick Cheney who held the number one position on the list. Cheney lived in Texas when he was a big wheel at Halliburton (a Texas company that made billions off the Bush/Cheney wars in Iraq and Afghanistan).

Here are the Texans and their rankings:
12. George Bush
32. Karl Rove
48. Ron Paul
51. Rick Perry
71. Dick Armey
99. Tom DeLay

Looking at that list, I would say Texas conservatism is in trouble. It's a list of "has-beens" and "never-will-bes".

Sadly, there were no Texans on the top 100 liberals list. Texas liberals have been in trouble for a long time and still are. Even the top Democrat in the governor's race is a blue dog conservative this year.

  1. I'm thinking the Republicans should change there name to "Assholes Unlimited."
