Republicans would like for you to believe the solution to our immigration problems is simple - just close the Southern border to the undocumented. But that is wrong. While stronger border control might be desirable, it is not the complete solution.
The truth is that our system for legal immigration is badly broken (as the two charts above show). The legal immigration system must be fixed. Until it is, controlling undocumented immigration is just a pipe dream.
