A couple of days ago, an unbelievable rumor was flying around Amarillo. People were saying that former-Beatle Paul McCartney was in Amarillo! It sounded crazy. Why on earth would McCartney come to the Texas Panhandle?Well, it now looks like that crazy rumor was true. According to the Amarillo newspaper, Paul McCartney spent Wednesday night in Amarillo at the Ambassador Hotel. It seems that he is vacationing by driving the world-famous Route 66, which happens to go right through Amarillo.
McCartney left the hotel about 11:00am yesterday in a 1989 green Ford Bronco. A small crowd of media and fans had gathered outside the hotel, hoping to talk with him or get autographs, but that was not to be. He just waved to the crowd as he pulled out of the parking lot, and resumed his trip.
my wife ran up to the Ambassador that night. She didn't get to meet him, but she did get a picture.
