Could this be a picture of not just our country's shameful past but also it's future? I would like to say no, but the sad fact is that Republicans in both Missouri and Maine have introduced bills to repeal the laws prohibiting and controlling child labor. These Republican corporate lackeys have already created a situation where there are millions of unemployed Americans desperate enough to take jobs with reduced wages and no benefits -- a real boon for corporate America. But they also know that children can be paid a fraction of what an adult needs, and the way to accomplish that scenario is to cut funds for public education and do away with child labor prohibitions (both of which they are currently in the process of doing). Republicans truly have no shame.
