The chart above is from the Gallup Poll. They surveyed a national sample of 1,381 adults nationwide between June 1st and July 5th, and their survey has a 3 point margin of error. It compares the confidence in science with a similar poll from 1975.
The Republicans have waged a war against science in the last few decades, and it has had some success. The confidence in science among the Republican base has dropped from 72% in 1975 to about 45% in 2021 -- a huge drop of 27 points.
The drop among all adults was only 6 points, and Democrats showed an increase in confidence in science of 12 points.
